Board and batten cement board over brick exterior?

Board and batten cement board over brick exterior?

Looking at potentially doing a board and batten cement front over my brick exterior? Any advice? Is the typical installation with 2x2 furring attached to the brick mortar?

I don't think it's typical to cover brick with anything actually.

A better explanation of what you want to do would help us better understand what you want/need. Any time you add to the exterior walls you can affect how the windows/doors operate plus any electrical on the exterior. IMO you are better off leaving the maintenance free brick as is.

It might also depend on what shape the brick is in. If it's really old and crumbling, you can't really attach anything to it anyways.
