Rubble Fill to Support Concrete Crown
I am rebuilding the top 8-10 courses of brick and have some questions.
Is it required to fill the area between flue and CMU with brick and rubble? I realize that support for the concrete crown is required but what other options are there? Could angle iron laid across the 2nd or 3rd layer from top be used to create a base for the crown?
Any ideas or suggestions, thanks.
