Call me cheap. Advice needed for concrete in asphalt driveway
Background. I have a large driveway and have avoided getting it repaved with inserting 3" depth concrete in a few large places. Why concrete? Because the asphalt in 5 gallon containers from home depot do not work, it never hardens. The concrete however functionally works fine.
Question, how can I color the concrete to be approx that of the asphalt? Apply some kind of stain or something else? Also, is some kind of pretreatment advisable? Like powerwashing it? The concrete is a few years old and fully cured. I realize that no matter what treatment I use, the concrete must be fully dry.
Much thanks in advance for your meaningful advice.

You could use a black porch and floor enamel but it's only a temporary covering.
It will have to be repainted routinely..... especially if a car tire runs over it.

I suspect a concrete stain would be best although I don't know if you can get it in black. A friend of mine had a similar situation and tried 'painting' the concrete with black top sealer - it didn't last 6 months.

Concrete in part of asphalt driveway
Yes cars will be driving on it. And I had tried Home Depot asphalt ‘hole filler’ but even when I tamped it down, it never hardened, even after 6 weeks. I literally shoved it back into the containers and brought it back to Home Depot for a refund. Maybe some kind of stain...

OK, I got a Behr dye from home depot and that seemed to work acceptably. Applied it to this old concrete with a roller. After it absorbed and kind of dried I rolled it again for a darker and more consistent look and it kind of matches the rest of the freshly sealed driveway. I got the darkest mixed color they had, and upon request the fellow added another ounce of black into it.
