Maintenance/sealing of new stone chimney
70yr old stone chimney thru roof peak replaced from the flashing up, with 4" cap.
Stone mason did great work. Asked him about maintenance/sealing the new chimney, and he recommended the following:
Inspect chimney yearly -when cracks appear, make first application of ACRYL 60.
ACRYL 60 lasts (5) years before recoat needed. The liquid fills cracks and seals chimney.
Any feedback on this recommendation? (ie: wait for cracks to appear before sealing, and recommended product?)
This guy knew his stuff, but with cost of this work just seek a consensus regarding how to maintain/seal chimney to maximize lifespan.
THANKS
