Greetings All:

What can I use to clean my concrete front porch. The dirt mostly seems to be red clay mud residue. Looking for something that does not require a pressure washer or copious amounts of water. The porch only gets a few hours of morning sun and there is an over hang. Something along the lines of a plant friendly product that can be applied and then mopped up some kind of way. I tried a bucket of soapy Dawn dish soap water on an area w/ a scrub brush and it did not work. Then tried to spray Krud Cutter on area and scrub, that only slightly faded it. The concrete driveway & back patio I keep clean with Wet & Forget because that can work due to no overhang preventing the rain helping the cleaning process, unlike the front covered porch. Attached are some photos.

 

You need a surface plate cleaner for a pressure washer.

Cleaners will not get down into the pours of the concrete to clean it sufficiently!

 

I'm afraid a pressure washer is what you need. It can get down into the pores of the concrete better than any brush. The trouble is red clay is microscopic bits of rock. Soap and cleaners can help loosen it but there is nothing that can dissolve or emulsify clay like you could with soap to clean up oil. You need to mechanically get down into the pores of the concrete and flush out the clay. A perfect job for a pressure washer.

@PJmax thanks for that product info. The reviews are all good, but since they were on their site they might have removed some and the product does not seem to be sold elsewhere, like Amazon or HD, to see some other reviews. They do offer a $7.00 sample for purchase, though, and I am thinking about purchasing it for the spring as the weather here is no longer in the optimum range for success as per the product data sheet provided on the site.

I also found what looked to be a promising product, Krud Kutter Red Clay Stain Remover, but the reviews were bad. And it must be a true reflection because the product has been discontinued!
