Concrete floor pour into existing barn

A 48x25' barn has 4-12x25' bays separated by 2.5 inch steel border. I am filling the barn with concrete 2.5 inches thick, with an 18 inch rebar grid. The existing foundation is packed rock. Will this be structurally sound to house tractor and equipment?

Doubtful. 2.5" is not thick enough, especially when you are trying to embed rebar in it. The rebar should be in the middle, not laying on the bottom.

I would be thinking closer to 6" thick for heavy equipment but 4" would be my minimum even for anything.

2.5" thick concrete would be bare minimum for foot traffic and even then it would be dependent on a good solid base. I agree 4" would be bare minimum for vehicles and equipment.

thanks for co

Thanks for comments. I will dig down to 4" for the two side wings before pouring and place rebar in middle. Also use a matrix concrete for the mid bay concrete overlay, but stay at 2.5 ".
