site plan

Hi There,

I am a newbie here and try to build a 6ft retaining wall, which needs county permit.
It seems I need a site plan to create a design, but do not find it in my closing documents. Is there any way to find this info online? Or have to call the county record?

Thanks,
G

In my county the site plan is the homeowners responsibility to provide. The county does not provide it. So, it is something you must draw up or have done by a professional. In my area it is used primarily for zoning approval and they accept a drawing from the homeowner as long as it's accurate. It does not have to be from a surveyor. They are looking for the work you wish to perform and where it is located in relation to the existing building/house and the property lines so they can insure you have the proper setbacks.

It's pretty much that way here also. Once you have the permit you have to stake out what you intend to build and the inspector will come by and make sure it abides by the setback regulations.
