drain tile
I have a detached garage and with the city street work that is going on my garage is having water run back toward the garage. the storm drain is about 20 feet from my garage and is in my yard. I can put a drain tile or drain by the garage and bury some plastic tile to the storm drain. the problem I have i that the up right piece that comes up to the ground surface is 12 inch concrete that is about 2-3 inches thick. I would like to bore a 3 inch hole in the upright but don't know what type of tool would be best for the job. any ideas?

Of course you can buy/rent a 3" core drill bit on a larger drill, which would be much easier, but more expensive.

I thought the small holes in a circle and the hammer would probably be the best, but just wanted to make sure there wasn/t something I was missing.

Any reasonable chance of hitting re-bar or re-wire where you are going to drill? If you use the circular multi-hole idea, I would suggest drilling a little oversize to keep from having to chip out cement that does not break off cleanly.

I went out today and used a level and string to check the grade. turns out there is a hump between the garage and the drain. I used my rototiller and cut a notch in the grass until I had a one quarter bubble from the garage to the drain. we will try that this year. see how it works out. what do you think?
