I have a small area I need to lay down about 12 chicago bricks on a mortar bed about 1" thick. The joints will be 3/4" wide. Should I lay the mortar bed, set the bricks down first, wait a few days for the bed to cure, then fill in the joints, or should I fill in the joints at the same time?

[color=#000000]Need some advice on how to go about this repair. I have a hole outside in my foundation, about 2 inch deep and about 4 inch all around. It's an inside corner, there was a low spot underneath which I filled. At first i thought it may have caused this hole with water pooling, but then looking more closely it looks too perfectly squared that someone may have done it on purpose.
