I have a small (8" X 12") memorial plaque (looks to be made of slate) that has come loose from its base that looks to be sandstone. It is recessed into the base with a 1" border of the sandstone. The memorial will be outside in the weather year round. What adhesive should I use to reattach the plaque to the base? Please be as specific as possible, including brand and full name.
Some type of adhesive was used. It doesn't appear to have been mortar. I have attached pictures of the base and the plaque. Maybe that will help with diagnosing what was used or what should be used at this point.
Hi all,
In escrow on a place in South Orange County Southern California and had the inspection done today along with getting other vendors out to look at a few things. Didn't think we'd need a structural engineer but the general inspector suggested it after pointing this out:

The piece corner 'piece' appears to be ever so slightly unlevel with the rest of the slab but more significantly, the inspector pointed out that the area of the hallway and room that are above the garage (it's a 2 story home) slightly 'drops' or slopes (feels like about an inch) as you're walking from the upstairs hallway into the room that's over the garage corresponding to this same area. There is a large pine tree outside of the garage about 6-8' away and some other concrete pads that were forming a walkway - these pads were also not level with each other so the inspector was thinking the tree roots might be contributing to some of this. There are also no gutters around the edges at the top so he was also suggesting that the water pouring straight down could potentially cause issues with erosion and might have had a factor with this.
The home was built in 1985 and is also situation on somewhat of a slope:

I know it's probably tough to tell from the pics but does this look or sound like something more major than it looks? We are likely having a structural engineer come out to assess but wanted to get as much feedback/input as possible.
Hey guys,
I am going to attempt my first patching the below driveway/foundation gap soon. I plan to do this when not raining. The youtube videos that I saw were only patching concrete patch mix into existing concrete gaps etc, but one question I have is, that the bottom of the gap seems to be gravel. Is it ok to just pour in concrete mix on gravel?
The exact steps I plan to do are:
1. Break off any lose parts with trowel / chisel etc.
2. Use an air compressor / brush / etc to get as much leaves/dirt/stuff off of that gap, and what will remain is likely to be just gravel.
3. Spray a mist of water into that gap for concrete patch to stick better
4. Use a trowel to fill in that gap and smooth it out with concrete mix. (I am not sure what I should use, but I imagine the Quikrete Quick-Setting Cement Concrete Mix would do)
Does this sound right? If not, which methods would you do to fix this?
