I am going to attempt my first patching the below driveway/foundation gap soon. I plan to do this when not raining. The youtube videos that I saw were only patching concrete patch mix into existing concrete gaps etc, but one question I have is, that the bottom of the gap seems to be gravel. Is it ok to just pour in concrete mix on gravel?
The exact steps I plan to do are:
1. Break off any lose parts with trowel / chisel etc.
2. Use an air compressor / brush / etc to get as much leaves/dirt/stuff off of that gap, and what will remain is likely to be just gravel.
3. Spray a mist of water into that gap for concrete patch to stick better
4. Use a trowel to fill in that gap and smooth it out with concrete mix. (I am not sure what I should use, but I imagine the Quikrete Quick-Setting Cement Concrete Mix would do)
Does this sound right? If not, which methods would you do to fix this?
I see, thank you all. I'll consider using mortar mix as suggested below.
Also, all the videos that I've seen patched on existing slab etc, but since the bottom of that step is I believe is gravel, it's ok to just (after clearing up other debris) pouring over/inside that gap, right? I think all the videos emphasized that the mix will not stick if it's free floating (like gravel) so I was pretty confused in that aspect. (maybe I'm worrying too much)
I have a small (8" X 12") memorial plaque (looks to be made of slate) that has come loose from its base that looks to be sandstone. It is recessed into the base with a 1" border of the sandstone. The memorial will be outside in the weather year round. What adhesive should I use to reattach the plaque to the base? Please be as specific as possible, including brand and full name.
Apologies if this has been discussed recently, I did a quick search and did not find anything specific to my question.
I am pouring a new driveway and including an extension to create some patio space in front of the house. There is an ill-placed downspout right near the front door and when it reaches the ground it elbows off into a long extension, this is essentially the borderline between where the current patio ends and the garden begins, where I will now pour a new patio space. So I would like to bury the downspout under the patio and have what I hope is a somewhat attractive flange that the downspout connects into before going under the patio.
Can I accomplish this with a piece of abs? Is there a specialty product or kit I should be looking at? Answers seem to be conflicting. I found the flange converters for a 4x3 downspout to the black corrugated plastic downspout extensions, but they are ugly, and I assume not rigid enough to have concrete poured over them. Most of this will be buried but the point where the aluminum downspout connects to this new buried pipe is right near the front door so I don't want it to look cheap. That said, it's very feasible that I could decorate/hide it myself afterward with some interesting woodwork, etc but I do want to make sure that I install the proper materials so that I never have to worry about the quality of this downspot.
Appreciate any insight or experience,
