Repair driveway apron

Our driveway apron is failing. It had a serious dip with multiple cracks. I was living with it.
this year, the town started repairing the road. When they stripped the road, the driveway apron is literally coming to pieces. Probably good that I do not need to cut it. But now my challenge is how to repair

About 5 feet a 1 feet area.
I can see dirt under the asphalt

Questions
1) how do I fix the base ?

2) would cold asphalt hold or do I need to call a professional for hot asphalt?

3) anything better ?

If the street job isn't fixed yet, I would talk to the contractors doing the work to see if they'd go another couple feet up your driveway.

Cold patch material works best when it's contained, like in a pot hole, on a flat surface it tends to keep flowing out and will break up.

Any home fix will only be temporary. I agree with Stickshift. If road is already finished, you need to call a professional.

The town contractor repaired it even without asking

Regretting I did not dig out the other cracked areas. But those are minor, can patch and/or crack fill with hot tar ropes
