Asphalt driveway crack filling
Is there a good DIY tool to apply the hot crack filler that the pros use? (I have used the “Pli stix” type with a propane torch, but I think I need a beefier solution for cracks up to 3/4” wide. I saw a youtube video using a metal can heated over a gas burner, but it seemed messy.

The PLi stlx is recommended for cracks up to 1/2" only.
A 3/4 inch wide crack is pretty big. I would try using a backer rod in the crack and push it in so about a 1/4" depth is left. Then I would use typical crack filler (trowel grade) followed by a standard sealer after it's well cured. Say several weeks later. It will never be permanent but I think you'll get as long lasting repair as anything else.
