GraniteGrip or Decorative Concrete Stain or Porch or Patio Floor Paint

Hello Everyone,

our driveway and the sidewalk that comes into the main entrance are made o concrete and are very old.

I came across Beher Granite Grip and thought it will be a good idea to use that. I pressure-washed an area of concrete, etched it with muriatic acid, and washed and applied Granit Grip on the surface. It looked great after two coatings.

After a few weeks when I went to Home Depot to get 5 gallons, I saw that the containers of Granit Grip was very few and that was the case in all Home Depots.

I am wondering if this product is being discontinued by Home Depot.

MY QUESTION: Would you recommend using Granite Grip or use Decorative Concrete Stain or Porch and Patio Floor paint or Porch and Patio Anti-slip Floor paint

Personally I wouldn't use anything with the name Behr on the can, cheap products, lots of issues, lots of complaints. HD sells paints based on cost, not quality.

None of the local HD's have the 5 gal in stock. However, the closest store to me has plenty of the 1 gal for around $65. I don't know anything about the product although I read one review that said the product started peeling after 2 years, but the reviewer admitted that they did not properly prepare the surface.

Stain does ok on exterior concrete but I'd shy away from paint - sooner or later it will peel.

I am planning to do something like that. This is what i am thinking. I am using Rapidset Mortar Mix. Mix it to a pancake batter consistency and then pour it and let it level out on the concrete. Maybe 2 coats. After that, apply a masonry paint. Behr masonry paint has a 20 year warranty. I applied it to a retaining wall i built last year. It's holding up good.

Well i just realized that there's a hack to make a surface non slip. 4 part paint and 1 part sand. Has anyone tried this hack?

I've never mixed in masonry sand but I have used the sand [non slip] additive they sell at the paint store. It works well but it tends to wear off in the higher traffic areas.

"I've never mixed in masonry sand..."
It's not masonry sand. It's rather play sand from the orange store. Masonry sand is too fine.
