Asphalt Sealing

I had my driveway sealed with asphalt sealer petroleum-based. They put too much in one area and it gets sticky in that area. What can I do to correct the problem without removing it?

Was it a depression that pooled? It should dry out within a day or two. Scrap it out and reapply a very light coating and let it dry for two days before walking or driving on it.

It was applied 2 weeks ago for the second time. They scrapped the first coat off and then applied a second coat and it was too thick. This is at the end of the driveway. The weather has been in the 50s and around 70 some days. When it's warm the sealer becomes sticky. I cannot get them to come back and fix it.

Scrubbing the affected area with mineral spirits might help.
