Question

Looking for some help with building a brick mailbox. I live in New Jersey and would like to know if I should make a footing down to frost line or just make a base. Any assistance will be appreciated, thanks.

Mailbox foundation.

This is a very lonely forum so I'll give it a shot......
Unless your project has a massive amount of weight, a slab footing would be preferable in my opinion. The reason being, that if there is any ground movement, it would be a simple thing to relevel it.

hello
you need to keep in mind the size of the mail box..if it is a large heavy unit you are doing, a slab is great but if it is small the fooding needs to go down to keep the unit from tipping to one side.....like a post the deeper the better to a point anyway....Good Luck
