Iam getting ready to layup a few blocks im using "type S"
mix. first of all i can't remember the ratio. cement /sand
secondly do i need to add lime and if so how much?

Yes, it conforms to type S.
Otherwise:
1 Type S Masonry cement + 2.25 to 3 sand
OR:
1 Portland, + .25 to .5 Type S lime + 2.25 to 3 sand
