Poultices are used to remove embedded stains. Poultices are available at stone supplies and some home centers. It's possible to make your own also. The first thing you must do is to identify the type of stain (oil, grass, rubber, dirt, ect). This is an important step in selecting the proper poultice. The poultice material is applied to the stain. Sometimes alcohol, ammonia, bleach or some other liquid is added to the poultice material to assist stain removal. Then the poultice is allowed to dry before removal. Often repeated applications are necessary if the stain is deeply embedded in the stone.
