stone wall
I was wondering if anyone knows if you can buy field stones to build a stone wall. We have a cedar home and think this rustic look will work best. We have about 2 ton of rock that we collected from a dry river bed but have heard they don't work well for wall. Is this true. Any help would be great. Charlay

Charlay, I am certainly a rookie, but I was just out looking at some stone at a supplier. I think the river stone will likely be too rounded to stack well. How tall will your wall be? I am planning on a short wall of only about 12"-15". I looked at some field stone varieties that are very flat and dry stack well. The cost is about $295 a ton. It looked like one ton would do about 15-20' at 12" in height. Is your cedar home a Lindal?

Hello,
I live in Arizona around alot of creeks and river beds,alot of people use the river rock for walls here and they work fine and have a fine look to them.There are even a few houses here that were built with river rock and they look great.
