Audi purchase

Looking to purchase 97 Audi A6 or 98 A4 with 2.8L this way due to price(about the same). Any issues I should be concerned with? I usually keep for a 1-2 yrs then sell and purchase anothe vehicle. I will tow a couple of snowmobiles with it. I like the awd as I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada(lots of snow). Are their any other options for AWD for my needs?

I've got no personal experience with Audis in the last 25 years although I really like their styling and power. I've been tempted every time we need a new car but after doing the most basic research via "Consumers Reports" magazine and car owner's sites like edmunds dot com I veer away from them.

For all around reliability in AWD I dont' think you can beat a Subaru, not pretty to look at, not a lot of get up and go, although I'm sure the new engine options have overcome that, but they are pretty bulletproof cars and one of the few cars that I've ever towed anything with that didn't feel like it was going to swap ends on me when the weather got dodgy.

Thanks for the info. I have owned an audi before and it rides like a dream handles great, but didnt own it long enough to see about reliability. I have heard about Subaru but was not sure like you said about the power thing. May have to go and drive one.

A WRX or maybe a 330xi would be other good options.

As to the reliability of those Audis, I would find a Audi specific forum. www.vwvortex.com
