Buying a used Car/Truck
Hi,
What would be a reasonable price for a early 90's Chevy Suburban or Blazer? I am new to this and would like to avoid making a big mistake. What guidelines can someone offer to me. Mileage, Price, etc..
Thanks,
sweetboy

The Suburban will be at least double the cost of a Blazer "S-10 Blazer that is" .
The Kelley Blue Book will get you started since vehicle prices vary in different areas. You can do a Google search for their web site.

www.kbb.com
Also NADA at www.nadaguides.com
Both have good info and often the values are a little different so you can get a range of what to expect. Both have car-buying info as well.
You own an oil well, right?

Hey Lou,
How many miles can I expect to get out of an early 90's Suburban before the engine goes?? What maintenance should have been done on that vehicle past 100k miles??
Thanks,
sweetboy

If engine was well maintained, good quality oil and filter, etc, these engines just keep going , mine had 152K miles on it and was strong as an ox, really tight you'd be impressed with a couple revs.
I had the K&N air cold intake and the Flowmaster muffler on it.
Most popular engine was the 5.7L 350 CI with 215 HP,which was the one I had, a 7.4L ( with massive torque ) was used on the 2500 version. Try to get a 4x4 you wont regret it when you have snow or heavy rain or mud.
After 1995 I think they came up with the 350 Vortec that added around 35 Horses to it.
Nowadays they have the 5.3 L 295HP on 1500 version, 6.0L 300 HP and 8.1 L 340 HP on the 2500 HD versions. Note that bigger engines have a lot more torque , when you hook up a big trailer or go up on a hill with a/c running at max you know where the extra money went to

Well..I lucked out and I got an '89 Suburban 2500 7.4L engine. If I am seldomly going to use this vehicle (just for home depot runs), how often should I start it up?? Or even give it a spin?? This vehicle I imagine is going to be a gas guzzler, so I plan on using it sparingly.
