tricks to fast charcoal lighting

What tricks do you guys do to get the charcoal going faster. Other than just lighter fluid

not real big on the taste of petroleum

Ive used similar ones but this has a nice design . starts quick , one peice of newspaper

Don't think I woud pay $12 + shipping, tho. When we still used charcoal (last century), we used an empty coffee can with the bottom cut out; same idea as mango's link and a lot cheaper.

I still do it the old fashioned way. If I know we'll be eating around 3:00 I start the coals at 2:30.

They do work well though. My friend uses on just like that one.

I keep my big coffee cans and cut slots in the sides after removing the ends. Can't see paying a store for a chimney when I can make one that lasts half the summer. Paper in the bottom, charcoal and then your choice on using lighter fluids.
