kitchen cabinet trimming
Hi there-
I've got a couple questions but I'll start with this one. We want to get new appliances for our kitchen including a new refrigerator. The ones we like (relatively large) won't fit under our existing overhead cabinet. We need another quarter inch of clearance to make it fit. I've looked carefully at the cabinet and it seems that I've got 3/4 of an inch that could be removed from the bottom, but what is the best way to do that? Can I just use a power sander and work until I've trimmed 1/2 inch all around? Removing the cabinet does not seem like a possible solution because of its attachment to the trim and the kitchen would look bad if it was totally removed. Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks,
Craig

If the cabinet has a faceframe, you can trim off a bit and finish it so no one knows the difference.
Does the cabinet front have a 'lip' below the bottom about 3/4" thick and maybe 3/4" - 1" deep? If it does, just trim off enough to get the new fridge in.
