Hi, I'm trying to frame a piece of artwork. I'm unable to find a framing kit because of its odd dimensions. Can anyone guide me how to frame it myself from scratch? I have seen wooden frame borders in Home Depot but I'm not sure how to proceed from there. Should I have glass cut to size or is there any lighter material that I can use instead of glass? (I had once bought a framing kit that had a thin, light plastic sheet instead of glass and I had liked it.) How do I then join the glass/replacement piece and framing borders, etc. Please note that I'm a novice so please be generous while giving advice/comments. Thanks.

How do I stop the surrounding area of the plywood from splintering the wood when I drill 3/8" hole about 1/2" deep? I'm also using a block on the drill bit to guage the depth of the hole. It's a board game that I'm making and the holes have to be all the same depth. I don't have a drill press, so I'm doing it all by hand. Anyone have some hints to make a nice clean hole without tearing up the wood?
