Stool for child

Is there a standard ratio that a stool should be. For instance if the stool is a foot tall how wide should the feet be to give the child support without fear of the stool flipping out from under them. The one have drawn has a seat that is 12 inches long and 9 inches wide and will be 1 foot from the floor to the top. The leg supports are 8 inches so the seat is 1/2 inch wider on each side than the legs. Somehow when I draw it out in CAD it just looks to tall for adequate support.

Keep in mind that the child will most certainly stand on it.

I just made one for my granddaughter, and I only made it 9" tall, due to the same concerns you have. She is 18 months old and loves to look out her bedroom windows. This brings her to the right height to see out, still give stability, and prevents her from toppling into the window by being too tall. I think my top was similar to yours, 9 x 12. Drop the legs to 9" and see if that gives you a good height.
