Unhappy casters for computer desk

I have an assemble-it-yourself computer desk that is very heavy, has vertical 5/8" dividers instead of legs and feet, and I would like to add casters or some method of moving it more easily to and from the wall behind it. I am pretty old and can't move it when it needs repairs, but would like to have it against the wall most of the time instead of always being a couple of feet away. It takes up too much space in my tiny apartment.
Apt is carpeted, which compounds my difficulty.

Thanx for any help.

bqmother, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
5/8" is not really thick enough to use the casters that go into a leg on most furniture. You may be able to use appliance rollers. I had them under a refrigerator so I could roll it out for cleaning. They are plastic and have a series of rollers. About 3" wide and 18" to 24" long. Moving would be restricted to straight forward or backwards. Carpet will make it more difficult but I think it would still work. Good luck.

Re: Casters

They make all different types of casters. Your vertical divider legs sound too thin to effectively use plates. You should be able to find some bracket-type that will fit around them. They make L-shaped bracket styles that screw into the side of stock panels. They also have caster clips that wrap around stock panels so that you can secure a stem type caster. Rockler is a good place to start.
