Broken Stair Hand Rail Spindle

I have a spindle broken on one of the handrails for a staircase. The house was built in the early 80s. I have been to all the home centers and some of the local lumber yards in search of anything which matches even close.

Any ideas on were I could find a matching spindle?

Thanks

If you have both parts of the spindle, they can often be repaired with dowels. But often, the only option is to have one made.

Post your photo on a sharing website such as Photobucket and give us the address.

You may want to Google "millwork" to find a replacement. Good luck with your project.

Spindle

Your photos worked. I can see them. Thanks.

I Googled "stair parts" and found several sites. A few are listed below. Many others are displayed on Google.

http://www.stairsupplies.com/eng/products/wood_baluster/Stain-Grade-Balusters/5005

http://www.stairpartsusa.com/Stair_Products_Balusters_Wood_s/20.htm

http://www.stairpartsondemand.com/Balusters.htm

If you cannot find what you need, perhaps you may want to consider taking your broken spindle to a woodworking shop and have a copy made on a wood lathe.

Good luck on your search.

Thank you Ken. Your help is much appreciated. It appears, as I thought, I will either have to have it made, fix the existing one the best I can or install an all new rail.

Again thanks to all who posted on this thread.
