Question Planer Chips

I normally mix my planer chips (and other sawdust) in my compost pile. Last week-end I planed some aromatic cedar and have a 30 gal garbage can full, but I am uncertain if it is OK to use this in my compost. What say ye?

I wouldn't, since cedar doesn't decompose readily. But it is a valued bedding material your local animal shelter could use.

I also add saw dust and planer chips to my compost pile but I think I'd use the cedar for mulch.
