Removing Veneer?

I got a free dresser off craigslist, the veneer top is peeling off and i want to remove it completely. Any ideas? Heat gun? Sand it off? Chemicals?. The wood underneath is beautiful and want to expose it from under the ugly veneer. Thanks

Sometimes when the veneer begins to release, a good thin bladed scraper can help it along. The glue will begin to disintegrate and it will pop off. You can spray a little water on the next area to see if it will help, too.
How lucky. My mother had an old chifferobe in her basement that received water damage due to flooding, and she asked me to throw it out. When I got it outside I noticed the veneer peeling. I finished the process and found the entire frame to be of wormy chestnut! A little planing and edge jointing and I have a stockpile to last a while.
