Repair of Second Hand Dining Table Legs

Hi there,

I am hoping someone can help me with this.

I have a second hand table that used to be bar height. The previous owner had the legs cut to regular table height. However, the finish seems to have splintered (2 inches) at the foot of the legs. It is a dark finish but where it is splintered is now a light wood colour. How would I go about fixing this?

No replies. Here goes, quick and dirty fix. Pick up a Minwax filler pencil at home/hardware/paint stores. One that closely matches your legs. Rub the pencil in until it fills the gap. Polish off with a rag. The hard fix requires tons on time and patience, basically, refinish the whole leg after stripping and sanding the bottom smooth..

If you're interested in replacing the legs (restoring the table to its orginal height) there are a number of suppliers on line.
