How were these edges made??

How were these edges made??

Does anyone have any idea how these vertical lines were made in the edges of the posts? I really like them a lot better than adding trim and molding.

It is rather nice. It looks, from what I can see, to have been done with a beading bit in a router. Each edge of the board was marked as start/stop and was run through the beading bit, then cut with a miter to hide the edges, so when put together, the effect you see was achieved. Others may have better ideas, other than the fact they were bought that way.

Edges

Could possibly be inside corner cove moulding. Sounds wrong for an outside corner, doesn't it?
