Scrap wood

I have a ton of 2x6 cut-offs ranging in size from 12-36 inches in length left over from a few recent projects. I just hate to toss them in the trash. Anyone have any plans of small projects or items that I could use these to make?

The field is completely open...all ideas welcome.

Dave

If you have a table saw, you could rip them into 3/8" strips and make some decorative lattice work for the garden/landscaping. The white painted ones always look nice. Stained ones look kind of rustic as they weather. Since the 2x6's are probably SPF (not PT, redwood or cedar) they won't weather the best, but like you said, they're good for something other than firewood.

Sounds like the makings for benches around the campfire.

Left overs from the benches could be used for bird/bat feeders/houses.

Then use the saw dust, dozen or so old candles, couple of cardboard egg crates and make some fire starters. Fill the egg cretes witht eh saw dust. Use a double boiler to mel tthe left over wax, pour the wax over the sawdust and let cool. Break teh egg cretes into individual sections. Use one to start your fire. Place it under the pile of wood, then light it with a match. The sawdust and cardboard act like a wick and the wax keeps the fire going.
