Bathroom cabinet

Our kids bathroom cabinet has a design carved into the wood.

It runs the length of the cabinet and is on all the drawers and on the two doors.

I want to update this cabinet with out spending alot of money.
Replacing this cabinet is not a option.

Right now it has a urethane finish on it.

I was thinking of stripping the old finish off the cabinet and filling in the carved out section and then painting the cabinet.

What could I use to fill in the carved out section.

TIA
Cindy

There are several good latex type fillers that work well. I use Elmers often. It is OK for painting, but is usually hard to match when staining. Depending on the depth of the carving, it may take several coats.
