New stair treads for a floating stair

I am thinking about installing full 1" solid Maple stair treads, I'm using Maple to match the floor.

I was looking for a really hard finish that will stand up to shoe traffic.

Look for a finish that says Rock Hard (brand name) or Bar Top (generic).

As the latter name implies, this is a very durable finish - made for bar tops that catch a LOT of abuse.

Here's a link to the brand name:

I finished a staircase that I made in a finish called Glitsa (per the customers demand).

It's a flooring finish that's very durable from Sweden. Drawback is it's the nastiest finish I've ever worked with in terms of the potentially brain damaging smell it emits as it cures, but if you can leave the windows open while it cures, and be able to leave the house for a day or so - it will leave you with a rock hard finish.

I wore a resperator while I applied it.
