How to tone down bright brass

Hello! I just finished a huge project of a set of cabinets and built-in bookcases. It came out really well but I have a problem with the hardware. I wanted the set to look like antique asian furniture and I found all the hardware I wanted in burnished brass except for the hinges. The design I wanted only came in bright brass. I got the hinges hoping someone could tell me how to tone down the brass. Any hints?

Amonia will dull it a little. I don't know if it will be as much as you want.

If they are solid brass try removing the protective coating and they will tarnish.
