2X4 to ceramic tile floor using ramset gun

Has anyone tried attaching a two by four to a ceramic tile floor using a Ramset gun?

you will break the tile. it is too brittle to attach well with ramsets. better would be drilling and tapcon or anchor bolts into the underlayer.
however if you can manage to hit the joints with the nails should not look to bad the hard part will be avoiding the tiles.

No, and if I did would never admit to it. I would cut the tiles out where the 2x is going. There is a good chance you will break them anyways when you snug the 2x down. Either that or pre drill the tile and use lags into the sub-floor and hope the tile doesn't break.

OK, wsaend, I'll admit it. One of my helpers decided to install a plate over ceramic. I heard the gun go off and knew it was too late. Luckily there were extra tile in the garage so we replaced the tile. Shattered like a piece of glass. Using PL400 or other comparable adhesives as well as the tapcon method is the best way to do this.

I have shot a lot of things in life never tile. Never used tap-cons on tile either, I almost always use red heads into mason not a huge fan of tap-cons. I will concede to tap-cons and adhesive though, but pre-drill. Chandler you better watch that guy keep sharp tool away from him.

I commend you for having the foresight to ask before doing it! I wish I were more like you.
