Question

I intend to build a couple of wall cabinets for my shop. I am considering using 3/4" MDF material for everything except the cabinet backs. I have no experience with this material. Does it hold fasteners well? Are there specific types of fasteners recommended for use with MDF? Is MDF more abrasive to cutting tools, saw blades, router bits, etc. than plywood? Do it produce more dust than plywood during machining?

Thank you for your time.

Where actual strength is not the deciding factor, I like MDF board. It is less abrasive than plywood and much less than particle board. It also machine beautifully. I've used it to create archway moldings (to be painted) with nothing more than a router.
