handrails

I need some helpful info on installation of a handrail. I plan to lag into studs about 32" high. Is their anything else I should consider when installing.

The height to the top of the handrail needs to be 34" - 38" as measured vertically from the front edge of the top and bottom treads. (parallel to the angle of the stairs).

Ends of the handrail need to return to the wall so as not to hook clothing.

What kind of handrail are you installing that will require lag bolts? Most often they are installed using offset standards and supplied screws. Is your handrail elliptical in shape and how are you attaching it?

I'm not sure what I'm installing yet going to see what design the family likes. I just know the handrails are lagged in in the apartment complex I manage. It is for a hefty person who is is looking for a nicer railing and wants it to last.
