refinishing wood moldings

I am looking for plans to build a workbench. Any ideas or know of any books I can find plans in?

I do stained glass at my workroom table (basement). I’m creating an exhaust fan system that I can attach to my table top that will allow me to draw up solder fumes as I solder. My idea is to attach the fan to a piece of plywood, vertically, then attach flexible ducting to the back of the fan. The other end of the ducting will be attached to another piece of plywood, sliding glass door height by 12” wide. This piece will be wedged into my open sliding glass door. My questions concern the fan. I’ve researched some of the available fans, by Broan. Their utility fans, models 503-509S and Motordor 12C. Also, Solitaire S150. They draw from 150-480 CFM with sones from 3-7. I’m assuming that if the fan pulls the fumes at the source, I don’t need to worry that much about the size of the room. I’m trying to exhaust the fumes before they get into the room. Other options are to hang a kitchen range hood over the work, but I’m not sure I’m in favor of that option. Probably too noisy. Questions: 1. How many CFMs do I really need if the fan will be within 12-24” of the work surface? 2. Is there a CFM threshhold level above which I need to worry about negative pressure? The townhouse I live in is about 14 yrs old and is certainly not airtight. 3. Is a variable speed control or 2 speed fan more desireable? 4. Does it matter if the fan I get is made for between floor joists? Can it be installed vertically without problems with shaft rotation? 5. Has anyone tried this before? Any suggestions or things I should be aware of while constructing this? Thanks very much for any help you can give.
