Bi Fold Door Pivots are loose
I have a bi-fold door and the top pivots have warn out to the point that the holes are reamed out and the pivots are loose.
i need to fill the pivot holes with something that can hold the pivots in place
Any ideas on what glue, putty, cement products i should look at ?
thanks

Depending on how structurally sound the wood is surrounding the hole, you could possibly epoxy a dowel into the hole and once it dries, redrill the hole for the pivot.

You could fill the hole with Bondo or any other 2 part epoxy wood filler, then redrill the hole once it's hard. No, not liquid nails. Google wood epoxy.
You would take the door off and fill the hole, then wait until it's rock hard. Don't drill it until it's completely cured. If you rush it and try to epoxy the pivot into the hole it will probably fail.

There you go. Just be sure you wait long enough before drilling, and use the right sized drill bit for your pivot. Test the hole size in a scrap before you drill the door. Some require a 3/8" hole, some are 1/2".

No, mix it on a piece of cardboard and force it into the hole with a popcicle stick or equivalent until it is full. Nothing in a tube will work. No easy way out of this.

The top pivots are held in place by friction and some vertical ribs along the side of the plastic insert. I would remove the plastic insert, rotate 1/8th of a turn and reinstall where there is good material to grab onto. Simple and easy compared to two part epoxies and trying to re-drill IMO. It might also be that the plastic parts have worn out and need replacing. I have never seen one loosen, they always break before they get to that point. And the amount of force to oblong the hole would probably pop the door out of its track on a regular basis before damage to the hole.
