Garbage Compactor Next to Tall Cabinet / Fridge Veneer Counter Top Termination
I am in possession of a pretty rare 12" garbage compactor (they dont make these anymore). and have a 12" floor cabinet i would like to remove so i can slide in the compactor in its place. the thing is... the 12" cabinet is right next to a tall cabinet (actually a fridge veneer style thing)... its inconsequential its basically just to illustrate the fact that the countertop terminates and basically is butted up against the side of the tall vertical slab.... the only thing supporting that 12" area of countertop is the cabinet below it and arguably some glue between the countertop and the side of the "tall cabinet" (aka fridge veneer haha)
so would it actually be structurally sound or proper to remove the 12" cabinet and support that countertop some other way... or just have it cantilevering above the garbage compactor until it terminates butting up against the tall fridge veneer... or perhaps an L bracket screwed into the fridge veneer underneath the the counter top might hold it up but still allow the 12" garbage compactor to slide in...
i dont believe the garbage compactor rises up enough to actually support the countertop... there would be a gap between the top of garbage compactor and bottom of counter top
Please see the pictures i attatched! i hope it shows the situation pretty well... with the door open... anything light beige is part of the framing of the 12" cabinet and what would be taken out from under the counter top...
please!! no need to address the fact that if the 12" compactor breaks down i basically wont be able to replace it unless i find another one used or repair it... i could also replace it with a wine fridge... or some kind of other cool appliance... so please try not to stray off topic...
THANKS! MUCH APPRECIATED

I would get a strip of steel angle and screw to the fridge cabinet side to support the granite.
