caulk bathroom baseboard at floor?

do you normally use a silicone caulk at the baseboard floor joint in the bathroom? seems like extra moisture protection.

I don't think it's standard practice but it shouldn't hurt. It might attract dirt and be hard to clean though.

If your referring to the bottom of the baseboard or shoe/qtr round to floor I have never dont that or seen it done.

I doubt is will help but probably would not hurt but dont use silicon, use the siliconized latex caulks with microban. Silicon gets nasty in a bathroom with moisture and mold!

It depends what your floor is. But it's not uncommon to caulk it. But you would not use silicone as its very hard to paint. Painters caulk or grout caulk.

About the only time I've caulked the base to the floor is when vinyl was put down after the base was installed. As noted above the main reason not to caulk the base to the floor is caulking never fully dries and will attract dirt.

yes, the bottom of the baseboard to the floor. thanks, the flooring is sheet vinyl over the entire floor, so my concerns abt water from the shower are moot when compared to the nuisance of dirt.

If it's a vinyl floor, there should be no reason to caulk it.

Caulking the base to the vinyl does look nice initially .... but then the caulking begins to collect dirt

A tile floor with wood baseboard and base shoe would likely be caulked to the floor with a grout caulk or with painters caulk because the floor edge is uneven. A sheet vinyl floor would not need to be caulked because the floor is smooth and the base shoe would go down tight.
