i dont understand how this cabinet works
ordered custom filing cabinet to match the rest of the room decor...so didnt have a sample on display in the store. bought it at my local furniture store with long wait of course. there were no pics of the interior but it said Hanging rods: 12.25'' so i figured thats how wide the hanging folders would be. but now that i got the cabinet i have no clue how to use the hanging folders with respect to these rods lol.. i didnt even buy folders yet but wondering how to use these bars?

There should be notches at the back of the drawer for one of the rods you show in front. Then you select one of the remaining notches in the front depending on the size of Pendaflex style file hangers you wish to use, either standard letter size or legal. The files hang on the two rods. They are 90 degrees to the files on the response just before this one.

Google "hanging file folders" and "hanging file folder rods" or search on the big "A" website

If you have the rods, all you need is the folders. Be sure to get the correct size to fit your rod spacing.
One rod goes in the back of the drawer. place the front rod according to the size folder you want to use. (standard or legal)
The direction of the folders will be front to back - not side to side as with conventional manila folders.
Which size folders do you want to use?

oh wait do you mean the folders rest directly on the sides of the wooden drawer and the rods just are the front and back 'stoppers' ? i dont have any folders yet . you can see rod spacing in my first post. i guess the 2nd one would be put at the back of the drawer

I've seen similar cabinets where the files hang from those rods. I don't know if the measurements on yours would allow it to work in that fashion.
In effect, the folders are placed "left to right" in the drawer, rather than "front to back".

i could envision legal facing left to right with the 2nd bar placed at the rear
but placing the bar in the rear or leaving it where it is in the pic is what is confusing to me. def cant use it as is for any front to back loading

The folders hang from the metal rods. One of the two rods must be moved to the rear position. The front rod's position depends on the width of your hanging folders. The folders will be sideways, not front-to-back.

Move one rod to the notches at the rear of the drawer.
Place the remaining rod in the front notches for legal folders.
Place the remaining rod in the second set of notches from the front for standard folders.

One bar will go in the slots in the very back of the drawer. The second bar will either go in the next closest slots or the slots furthest away, depending on what size hanging folders you have.
