Medium duty garage shelving

I want to install 12” deep by 8’ long shelves in my garage. Have heavy duty brackets mounted to wall studs every 16”. Will 3/4” plywood be sufficient? I just want to be able to rip a 4x8’sheet into 12” shelves without adding cleats to the wall or a stiffener to the front of the shelves. Plan on normal garage junk. Maybe several potted plants brought in for the winter. No single item weighing more than 50#.

I was thinking about just using two 2x6x8 studs but am concerned about warpage. I recently moved and got rid of all my tools, saws, etc. Simplicity for someone with no tools. Will the 3/4” plywood work?

The 3/4" plywood would be perfect for shelves.
Brackets every 16" would be ideal.

I see 25/32" (3/4") fir sheathing from $45-50 at the depot. That's not to bad for 4 shelves.
Same size sheet with smoother finish runs closer to $55. That's not too bad either.
(the home improvement stores could rip it on their panel saw too.)

Forget the brackets, put a 2x4 against the wall, use 16" 3/4 shelves (16x3=48) with vertical 2x4's every 4'.

Strong enough you will be able to climb them!
