Remove paint from wood

I sanded down a painted bookshelf using an electric sander and by hand with 60 grit sandpaper. However, I can't get to the tiny area where the wood boards meet, i.e., where shelves are jointed to the uprights. It is about 1 mm is depth on eachboard. Is there a special tool available or is paint stripper the answer?

Thanks.

Hi,
You might take a trip to a woodworkers store and ask the sales person to show you their selection of scrapers. Besides a detail sander I can't think of anything more except a utility knife blade used as a scraper.
good luck,
Trent

Thumbs up bookshelf strip job

I find the spray-on chemical strippers they have available are the bomb! I never sand until the paint is almost completely gone. For corners I use a piece of sandpaper folded, only after I've removed what I can using the stripper and a small crevice tool like an exacto blade or a curved pick.
