Gave 3 weeks notice - but had to leave early

I gave three weeks notice at worek that I would be leaving. During the first week some caustic emails were exchanged and I dediced it would be better for both parties if I just left. HR Advised me that I would be paid thru the last day I worked. At first I thought that was fine - but after thinking it over - since I left b ecause of the caustic, harrassing environment - shouldn't I be paid up to the day I told them I would originally styay thru?

Thanks

You made the decision to leave in 3 weeks. You also were the one who made the decision to leave prior to the 3 weeks being up, when you could have stuck it out, unpleasant as it might have been. I can't see how you could possibly think they owe you more. If you think you have a case, you could always sue... but if they didn't fire you- you quit. JMHO

You left on your own - you can make a claim for a hostile work environment and try to collect but I wouldn't bother.

Think of this as reinforcement you made the right decision to leave this job.

Great point. It's all how you look at it.

Unless you made an awful lot of money at that job, legal fees would likely exceed the 2 weeks pay you might be entitled to.

Update

I copied HR and the president on the emails I conisidered caustic and harrassing. As long as I sign a release - they will pay me up to the date I had originally planned
to leave
