Unhappy Removing Melted Rubber from Velvet

How can I remove melted rubber from a velvet cushion. I accidently placed a tv converter on a velvet chair not realizing that the rubber feet had melted from the heat of the tv. My mother is ready to kill me. Help!

Melted Rubber on Velvet

It may be possible to heat the rubber with your blow dryer and gently scrape away rubber with finger nail or dull knife. If it is possible to remove the rubber in this way, the nap of the fabric may be permanently affected.

Angry Melted rubber on bedspread

I have a very similar problem. My daughter placed an electric piano on her bed and the rubber was melted and stuck to the bedspread. Help needed here also. I am ready to strangle someone; the bedspread is only 3 months old and was not cheap. :-(

Perhaps heat from blow dryer will allow you to remove excess rubber with plastic knife or spoon. Then, take to dry cleaner to point out stains. Depending on type of fabric and stability of dye, the dry cleaners may have a solvent that can be used that will not harm the fabric or dye.
