I've had good luck with a carpet/spot/stain remover called Resolve. It should be available in most grocery stores - Walmart, etc.

I would stick to using rubbing alchohol or denatured alcohol. Apply to rag and blot. Rinse afterwards.

Not all carpet dyes are created equal. Thus, it is best to test any DIY cleaner or cleaning method in inconspicuous place first for ill effects. Some commercial carpet cleaners can affect dyes.

Solvent cleaner like rubbing alcohol, denatured alcohol, or drying cleaning fluid is usually recommended for removing most makeup stains. There are other handy, commercial household solvents available. Remember to test first. Always blot stain from outside toward middle to prevent spreading. Do not rub as rubbing will affect fibers. Use white rag or paper towels. Continue to blot until makeup stains are removed.
