dark stains on hardwood floor ( maybe cat urine)HELP

Just took up carpet and underneath there was a trail of dark water spots previous tenants had cats, spots could be urine. Tried sanding but the stain only faded a little. Would bleaching the floor after sanding it help

Urine and water stains often penetrate deep into hardwood flooring and leave a dark stain. Sometimes stains can be lightened by sanding and wood bleach. One option when refinishing is to stain flooring a dark color to camouflage stains. Another option is to replace affected boards with boards from an inconspicuous area such as inside a closet.
