Cleaning unsealed slate hearth

Hello! We have spilled candle wax onto what I believe is an unsealed hearth. We have carefully removed the wax, but a stain remains. Can anyone tell me how to remove the stain?

You will have to remove residual wax with acetone or mineral spirits. Apply to paper towel and place on stain. (There are powdered poultice powders for stain removal from stone.) Cover with plastic wrap and tape down to prevent rapid evaporation of the solvent. Tape down plastic with tape. Poke a few tiny holes in the plastic. Solvent must be given time to settle beneath the wax and lift the stain. Do not remove until paper towel has completely dried out. It's the drying out that pulls the stain from the stone. It may take two to three days. If stain remains, repeat. Once stain is removed, clean and seal with sealer recommended for natural stone. Maintain with pH neutral cleaner recommended for natural stone.
